8D ASSOCIATION

The 8D Association is dedicated to promoting the history of the railways of South Lancashire, Merseyside and North Cheshire.

8D Association Photographic Collection

A new Flickr image site has now been opened to allow the Association to show off many railway images from its collection to the wider world. This Flickr image site is in addition to this website. Images will feature steam, diesel, electric locomotives, multiple units from various locations in and around Merseyside and Cheshire. Many of these images have been obtained from various sources, including member own collections, as well as ‘unknown photographers’. Click on this link to see the latest uploaded images.

Rainhill Railway & Heritage Society

The Society came into being during 1977 initial to assist with the L&M / Rocket 150th Anniversary in 1979 /80. Since then, as part of the objectives of the Society was the education to the public in the history and significance of the Rainhill Locomotive Trials of 1829, through the promotion, support and improvement of the Trials Exhibition, the railway heritage of Rainhill and the Liverpool & Manchester Railway line through the activity of a group of ‘friends’.  To view click here
