Membership

The 8D Association is open to any person who is interested in the railways of South Lancashire and North Cheshire within a ten mile radius of the Widnes Locomotive Shed which had the shed code 8D. .

The society has members from all walks of life including past and present railway staff, historians, authors and people with a general interest in railways.

Membership is currently £15.00 per year. Members receive a quarterly journal ‘On Shed’ and are able to participate in events organised by the association. Join now and membership will be upto end of December 2026. 

Please note there is also ‘joint’ membership (i.e. husband/wife, partners living at the same house) which is available for £5 extra which includes free entry to indoor meetings for both partners but only one journal is delivered to the address. 

 (NB: Membership will increase from £15.00 per year to £20.00 from 1st January 2026)
